Protests held against Gillani's conviction

To condemn the conviction of former National Assembly speaker and central PPPP vice-chairman Syed Muhammad Yousaf Raza Gillani, the Asif Zardari Release Committee (AZRC) organised protest camps on Monday in every district headquarter of the country.
"We have organised protest camps on Monday throughout the country as per instructions of Benazir Bhutto to condemn the sentence awarded to the former National Assembly speaker and to press authorities for the release of political detainees like Asif Ali Zardari and Malik Salahuddin Dogar," Salimur Rehman Mayo, chief organiser of AZRC said while talking to newsmen here on Monday.
Quetta camp was led by Suhail Ansari advocate, Karachi (Schon Chaurangi) by Abid Kumario, Rawalpindi (Liaquat Bagh) by Chaudhry Muqueem Khan, Nadeem Iqbal Pahat led a demo in front of Lahore Press Club.
MNA Ghulam Farid Kathia and Begum Shamshad Anwar led the camp in Sahiwal while Peshawar camp was established on University road.
In Multan, a protest camp was established in front of Colony Textile Mills, Ismailabad, where Salimur Rehman Mayo, ex-MPA Khurshid Ahmed Khan, former federal minister Malik Mukhtar Ahmed Awan, Syed Ahmed Mujtaba Gillani, Begum Zobaida Khokhar, Mirza Nazir Beig, Tariq Raza Khan, Manzoor Qadri, Mughis Shehzada Bhutto, Kishori Lal Chand, Akhtar Nawaz Bhutta, Sughra Bibi, Sughra Kausar, Saeed Moni, Ali Muhammad Qureshi, M. Yunus Azad, Seth Noor Muhammad and Malik Hanif Thaheem addressed the participants.
They said that train march from Karachi to Khyber would be launched if the PPPP leaders were not released forthwith and protest rallies, processions and public meetings would be organised in every nook and corner of the country.
A protest meeting would be held on Thursday in Okara where PPPP leadership would address the people.
