Punjab University to undertake extension of campuses

Punjab University Vice-Chancellor on Monday chaired a meeting regarding extension and construction of new academic blocks for emerging disciplines, new hostels, research wing and extensive renovation at Allama Iqbal Campus and Quaid-e-Azam Campus.
Presenting the expansion plan, Project Director Sheikh Muhammad Ali said as many as 24 new departments could be built on land along canal, while about 45 departments can be established from canal to Wahdat Road. Similarly land available along side Wahdat Road can house 73 departments and 285 acres for academic purposes and 90 acres for residential purpose had been utilised, he added.
The vice-chancellor stressed the need for readjustment of blocks and existing faculties by centralising the services of each faculty in accordance with the requirements.
Registrar Masud-ul-Haq, Controller Exams Professor Dr Ehsan Malik, Treasurer Professor Muhammad Azhar Ikram Ahmed, Oriental College Chairman Professor Dr Muhammad Akram Chaudhary, Chief Medical Officer Dr Farasat Ali, Hailey College of Banking and Finance Principal Professor Dr Khawaja Amjad Saeed, IT Centre Director Kamran Abid and others attended the meeting.
