Revamping of Zakat system ordered

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has directed the ministry of religious affairs to revamp the Zakat system so that it could provide Zakat to deserving persons (mustahqeen) in a transparent manner.
He was reviewing the goals and targets of the ministry of religious affairs here at the Prime Minister's House on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister said the ministry should focus on providing vocational and skills training to the deserving young students and facilitate them in getting gainful employment.
He said the ministry should streamline the policy of Umrah, and adopt a policy facilitating the zaireen to perform this religious ritual.
The Prime Minister directed the ministry to have a close liaison with deeni madaris and facilitate them to provide scientific and modern education to students to make them part of the mainstream.
