Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Tuesday directed the Housing and Works Ministry to prepare a re-development plan to resolve the housing problem of the government employees.
The prime minister issued these orders, while presiding over the meeting of Cabinet committee on re-development of old houses.
Housing and Works Minister Syed Safwanullah presented the re-development plan of housing for government employees.
The prime minister said housing is one of the priorities of the government. The private sector is also being encouraged to invest in the housing sector as it serves as engine of growth and generate economic activity, he said.
Shaukat said besides meeting housing demands, the new housing sectors would create a lot of job opportunities. He said he had already directed the Capital Development Authority, Islamabad to open new housing sectors to improve land availability position and stabilise the prices of land.
The prime minister directed the housing minister to prepare the re-development plan and present it before the Cabinet for approval.
