Old age benefit dues: EOBI-PBEA body set up

29 Sep, 2004

The Employees Old Age Benefit Institution (EOBI) has set up a committee for bedwear exporters to resolve disputes on payment of old age benefit dues.
The committee, set up at the request of Pakistan Bedwear Exporters Association (PBEA), will consist of Shabbir Ahmed, representing the association, and Javed Iqbal and Kazi Nisar from the EOBI side.
EOBI zonal head Javed Iqbal, in a letter, has informed PBEA Chairman Aziz Latif Jamal that the institution was making all out efforts to create congenial environments for execution of various provisions of the EOB Act 1976.
In this regard, a mechanism of resolving disputes, which might crop up during the course of execution of the act, has been evolved.
Accordingly, a dispute resolution committee, comprising the representative of employers' body/association and senior officers of the institution, would deliberate any such dispute for its amicable resolution.
The committee would meet once a month or as when required either at the PBEA's office or in the EOBI zonal office here.
The EOBI zonal chief has advised the PBEA chairman to inform all association members about the constitution of the committee and its functions.
