Sindh governor reviews Lyari Expressway project progress

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has directed the concerned officials to seek co-operation from members of Sindh Assembly for providing right of way so that the Lyari Expressway project could be completed on time.
The governor gave these directions while presiding over a meeting in his office at Governor House on Tuesday night to review the progress of work on the Lyari Expressway project.
MPA Abdul Sattar Ansari, Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister Mumtaz Hameed, Principal Secretary to Governor Akhtar Zamin, DCO Hussain Ali, Project Director Shafiqur Rehman Paracha and concerned officials attended the meeting.
The governor said that the project was in doldrums since 1958. It has now been taken up under the instructions of President Pervez Musharraf. He said that all efforts should be made to complete it in time.
He said that complete transparency should be maintained in the removal of encroachments and shifting of displaced people.
The Project Director briefed the meeting on implementation status of resettlement programme of the displaced people and said that the work would be completed in phases.
