Pakistan captain Inzamamul Haq suffered a groin injury after batting heroics in the opening one-day international (ODI) of triangular series against Zimbabwe at Multan Cricket Stadium (MCS) on Thursday.
The injury created doubts whether the captain would be available to lead in the next match, however, a PCB spokesman hoped he would recover within few days to participate in the October 3 ODI against Zimbabwe at Peshawar.
"Inzamamul Haq has suffered groin injury after batting against Zimbabwe", Vice captain Yousuf Youhana told a news conference after the match here on Thursday.
Inzamam did not enter the ground after scoring his 71st fifty (73) against Zimbabwe, a captain's innings that steered Pakistan out of trouble after first four Pakistan batsmen went out cheaply at 36.
"Experts are looking into it", Youhana added. Team manager Haroonur Rasheed told newsmen later, Inzamam has been put under observation for two days. " He is being given treatment and team physiotherapist would monitor his condition for the next two days," Haroon added.
A PCB spokesman said that Inzamam reported pain in the right groin. According to physiotherapist, it was a minor problem which would be solved within a few days and he would be ready to play the October 3 ODI at. Peshawar, he added.
