Bangladesh's foreign exchange reserves fall

03 Oct, 2004

Bangladesh's foreign exchange reserves fell 1.92 percent to $3.07 billion on September 30, 2004, from $3.13 billion at the end of the previous month, central bank officials said on Saturday.
The reserves fell because of payments to the Asian Clearing Union (ACU), a club of eight Asian nations set up to help foreign-exchange scarce countries.
On average, Bangladesh pays $200 million to the ACU in bimonthly instalments.
