Egypt buys Argentine wheat

Egypt's main official wheat buyer said on Saturday he had bought 60,000 tonnes of Argentine wheat for shipment period November 5 to 20, 2004.
Mahmoud Abdel-Hamid, vice chairman of the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC), told Reuters he had paid $126.47/tonne FOB for the wheat from Nidera.
GASC said on Friday it was seeking 50,000 to 60,000 tonnes of US, French, Canadian, Australian, and/or Argentine wheat for shipment period November 5 to 20, 2004.
GASC said it was also seeking offers for 30,000 to 60,000 tonnes of Russian and Syrian soft wheat for the same period.
In its last international tender, GASC bought 540,000 tonnes of French, US, Australian and Argentine wheat for shipment from October 21-31 and November 1-10.
