According to paediatricians, children are the most vulnerable as their parents or care takers if unmindful to ensure kids only consume properly treated water, which may be even bringing the water supplied to them to boiling point for approximately 10 minutes, could lead to outbreak of cited diseases.
It was mainly that contaminated water that played havoc exposing children at higher pace owing to weak immune system for above mentioned ailments, Dr Mobina Agboatwala said.
The paediatrician, associated with Civil Hospital Karachi, also referred to indifference of the parents to dissuade their children from consuming edibles being sold by road side hawkers or even at stalls in extremely unhygienic conditions.
According to her, half cooked items, over ripe fruits, ice candies and milk candies (kulfi) made out of polluted water and powdered milk further aggravates the conditions of kids.
Mothers needed to particularly ensure their infants were under all conditions be breast fed by them and those who might be a little grown up were must provided treated water, she told newsmen.
