Khyber Steam Safari back on track

07 Oct, 2004

The Pakistan's most outstanding tourist attraction Khyber Steam Safari, a steam-operated tourist train through legendary Khyber Pass, was brought on track after a period of one year on Sunday (October 3).
This time the train was chartered by a group of steam train enthusiasts from the United Kingdom through Wild Frontiers Adventurers London.
The British world travellers describe the steam train ride to the historic Khyber Pass as one of the unique and life-time experiences and commended the contribution of the Pakistan Railways, Frontier Corps, Department of Home & Tribal Affairs, Sarhad Tourism Corporation and M/S Sehrai Travel & Tours for organising this trip.
According to the managing director of Sehrai Travel & Tours, Zahoor Ahmad Durrani, the group appreciated the courtesy and hospitality extended by the people of the Khyber Agency. None of them found the perception of bad security situation prevailing in the world regarding the region.
They also appreciated the hospitality extended by the management of Khyber Riffles Mess and the special briefing provided to them at the Michni check-post.
It is worth to mention here that after 9/11 only four to five trips of the magic train has been arranged and the last Sunday's trip was after the lapse of one year.
