Partly Facetious: of 'bring back' committees

09 Oct, 2004

"I don't believe this! I simply don't believe this!"
"If you are referring to what Senator Edwards said in the vice-presidential debate about Israel having the right to defend itself and his focus on the death of an Israeli child with no mention of the deprivations suffered daily by the Palestinians and the deaths of numerous Palestinian children almost daily then I think you should be aware of the fact that the Christian-Jewish nexus is strong these days. I mean it's not Bush specific. Muslims are the target and I am afraid Muslim countries just don't know how to deal with this."
"The solution is simple: invest in the political system of America, like Israel has been doing and let's be honest the Arabs have a lot more money than Israel can ever hope to have."
"True but the Arabs did invest in Bush and family which is how they got the bin Ladens out of the US after 9/11 even when all planes were grounded."
"Yeah but they need to influence foreign policy not just invest in families."
"True but that is not what I meant when I said I didn't believe it."
"Oh, what did you mean?"
"Apparently there is an Asif Zardari Release Committee (AZRC) with a Chief Organiser by the name of Salim-ur-Rehman Mayo."
"Wow. It's Nelson Mandela syndrome all over again."
"Wouldn't go that far but Mayo has categorically denied rumours that Asif Zardari and President Pervez Musharraf have reached a deal."
"The deal, I presume, being the release of AZ and the continuation of Musharraf's rule without protests from the PPP specially regarding the uniform issue."
"Of course. Oh, but the Chief Organiser also said that Asif Zardari was gaining popularity day by day and the rulers are afraid of his growing popularity and the state controlled propaganda agencies were spreading the rumours of a deal to defame him."
"Frankly I don't think our Lotas think that a deal with them is defamatory if you know what I mean."
"Ah yes, didn't think of that."
"So is there a 'bring Nawaz Sharif back' committee (BNSC)?"
"Yes, but unfortunately it's also in exile so one can't expect too much success."
"What about bring back BB (BBBB)?"
"BBBB is chairing that so absolutely no dissension is allowed, not even from the present Government.
"Ah yes, so there is a possibility that they may join BNSC."
"Right but only if Nawaz Sharif comes back to power? I mean what's the point of owing allegiance to another leader in exile."
