Chicago Board of Trade soyabean futures were mixed on Friday on harvest pressure and light positioning before Tuesday's USDA crop report, which is widely expected to forecast a record US soya crop, brokers said.
CBOT soyabean futures were last up 2 cents to down 1/2 cent, with November up 2 cents at $5.27-3/4 per bushel. Cargill Investor Services sold 100 November and Refco Inc bought 100 November, brokers said.
The US Department of Agriculture will release on Tuesday its 2004 US soyabean production estimate, and CBOT traders widely expect an upward revision following field reports of better-than-expected harvest yields, they added.
CBOT soyameal futures were last up 50 cents to $1.40 per ton, with October up $1.50 at $156.60 and December up $1.40 at $159.80
Cash US soyameal basis offers were steady to weak on Friday, brokers said. There were two lots delivered against the October soyameal contract on Friday. Soyaoil futures were last down 0.03 cent to 0.20 cent per lb, with October down 0.15 cent at 20.49 cents and December down 0.12 cent at 20.61 cents.
