Musharraf stresses merit policy in all spheres of life

President General Pervez Musharraf has stressed for adopting merit policy in all spheres of life so as to face challenges of the modern era.
He was addressing at the dinner hosted by the Secretaries Association in honour of the President and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz at the Prime Minister's House on Saturday.
The President said that there is a need to uphold merit policy in order to face the challenges of global era.
He emphasized the need for reforms in the civil services, and said best and talented ones should be promoted in the society.
He called for highlighting the moderate and enlightened image of the nation and to struggle unitedly for the development of the country.
He asked the Prime Minister to review the current pay scales for bringing about an improvement in this regard.
The President said current pay scales are not satisfactory and these may be revised keeping in view the available resources.
The dinner was attended among others by the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Ehsanul Haq, the VCoAS General Ahsan Salim Hayat, the Chief of Staff to the President Lieutenant General Hamid Javed (Retd), Federal Secretaries and their spouses.
Earlier, the President was accorded a very warm welcome on his arrival at the Prime Minister's House.
He was received by the Prime Minister who was accompanied by Secretaries Association president Tasnim Noorani and General Secretary Syed Anwar Mehmood.
