'World recognises democratic character of Pakistan'

Speaker National Assembly. Chaudhry Amir Hussain on Saturday said the world has fully recognised democratic character of Pakistan and its role in the war against terrorism.
He stated this on his arrival here after a nine-day visit to Geneva and Brussels where he alongwith the parliamentary delegation attended the Inter-Parliamentary and European Union conferences.
The speaker said during these conferences, he and his delegation had presented the image of Pakistan as a modern, liberal, vibrant and moderate Islamic state, which believes in democracy, tolerance, enlightened moderation, good governance, peace and development.
He said the delegation had presented Pakistan's point of view on Indian occupied Kashmir in its true perspective.
Chaudhry Amir Hussain said during his stay there he had an opportunity to brief the business community about investment opportunities in Pakistan.
He hoped that the investors from industrialised and developed world would take full advantage of investment friendly environment, which would strengthen Pakistan's economy.
