Chinese delegation visits EPB

A 20-members Chinese delegation led by Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Governor Ismail Tillwaldi visited Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and held meeting with its Vice Chairman Abid Javed Akbar.
In his address of welcome, the EPB vice chairman emphasised upon the importance of China as a trade partner and welcomed the assistance of China in establishing three garment cities in Pakistan.
He appreciated the efforts of China in clearing mangoes and rice for imports and signing of the preferential trade agreement with Pakistan.
Ismail Tillwaldi said that annual border trade of $ 250 million between Pakistan and China was quite insignificant as compared to its potential.
Both the sides agreed to enhance trade co-operation. Ismail focused on increasing trade volume between Xinjiang province and Pakistan.
Abid Javed Akbar identified the areas for joint ventures like, textiles, food products, marble and granite, light engineering sector, etc.
The delegation also visited EPB's Export Display Centre and appreciated the range, quality of products, particularly marble, yarn, fans, bed-linen, etc.
