Farmers urged to grow more wheat

Farming community has now more responsibility to grow additional wheat to fulfil the country's demand, as government has fulfilled most of their demands, Punjab Minister for Agriculture Arshad Khan Lodhi in a PTV programme.
He said, "We will try this year that more land is cultivated as compared to last year."
He said that in view of the demand of farmers, Federal Government has announced higher wheat support price which should help improve production in the country.
He said that the government wants to provide every possible assistance to the farming community.
He said that Punjab has enough wheat stocks.
The Minister said that a better package for agriculture sector was announced in Budget 2004-05. Punjab government has also announced incentives for farmers to provide relief to them, he added.
He said, "Our efforts are towards enhancing per acre production which is the need of the hour. The country is facing water shortage and the situation demands efficient use of water to get better production from minimum amount of water."
