A sum of Rs 60 million was pledged during 12-hour long National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) live telethon held at Liaquat Gymnasium here on Sunday night.
The star studied extravaganza attracted patriotic Pakistanis allover the world especially from USA, UK, Canada, Australia, UAE and Saudi Arabia, who donated for the cause of Human Development with open heart.
Senate Chairman Mohammadmian Soomro was the chief guest on the occasion. Mother of the Senate Chairman, Mrs Sayeeda Soomro, also donated Rs 100,000.
Amongst the biggest attraction was Sanath Jaysuria, the prolific Sri Lankan batsman and Bangladeshis pop star Laila, who won the hearts of million of supports of the NCHD. Jaysuria's bat was auctioned for Rs2500000.
The historic live transmission was watched in 54 countries around the world and callers greatly appreciated the government's initiatives and attention paid to education and health sectors.
They also appreciated the vision and actions of President Musharraf to create a more tolerate society.-PR
