The combined opposition on Monday staged walkout from the National Assembly on the presentation of standing committee's report on the bill empowering President General Pervez Musharraf to hold his military outfit after the December 31 deadline.The government presented the report, which was not part of the House agenda for the day.
Before walking out, opposition lawmakers created rumpus in the House by chanting slogans "Go Musharraf Go", "Shame, Shame", and "Lathi goli ki sarkar nahin chale gi".
They gathered in front of Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain's dais and tore down the copies of committee's report.
The Speaker has no other option but to adjourn the House. The House will meet on Tuesday at 10am.
Earlier, Speaker Amir Hussain gave floor to Rai Mansab Ali Khan to present report of standing committee. On this, opposition lawmakers stood in protest and argued with the Chair that report can not be presented, as it was not part of the agenda.
However, the Chair did not listen to them and allowed the chairman of the standing committee to present the report.
Earlier, in the day, the National Assembly standing committee on law, justice and human rights approved draft bill. Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and Pakistan Muslim League president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain did not attend the session.
