Gaspram and several other Russian giants are likely to make their way into Pakistan's key sectors for investment.
A 20-member delegation currently visiting Pakistan, headed by Sulakshin Stepan, is actively engaged in talks with public and private sector representatives to help Russian companies invest in Pakistan's oil and gas, telecom, energy and power production sectors.
The delegation held a business meeting with Shahzad International, Pakistan's oil and gas giant, which was followed by a reception by the former, here on Monday.
Shahzad International chief executive, Zaheeruddin gave a detailed presentation to the delegation during the meeting on Pakistan's potential areas for Russian companies, and counted incentives offered by the government to the investors for bringing their investment in Pakistan.
Zaheeruddin said Pakistan was a good destination for Russian investors due to its unique incentives and potential in several key areas, and Russian investors should prefer it to other countries.
He listed oil and gas, engineering and manufacturing, telecom, power generation, transportation and engineering among potential areas, adding the government of Pakistan was providing best facilities to foreign investors who could take their profit out of Pakistan without any difficulty.
Zaheeruddin said Pakistan and Russia had been enjoying very cordial relations in the past and their revival was all the more needed in today's world when private sector was playing role of an engine to boost up economy of any country.
Zaheeruddin termed President Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz as dynamic leaders and said their polices were attracting huge foreign investment for the country. He also quoted telecom sector, which according to him, attracted around one billion dollar investment that year.
Sulakshin Stepan, who is also President of committee for industrial development and high technologies Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russian Federation, lauded the government of Pakistan's policies, which he said guarantee good return to the investors.
He hoped that the visit of the delegation would bring private sectors of the two countries closer and pave way for more Russian investment in Pakistan.
