Pak-Mauritian ministerial group to promote trade

The formation of Pak-Mauritian Joint Ministerial Working Group would not only bolster economic and commercial ties between the two countries, but also bring the people of two friendly states closer.
Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) President Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman stated this while addressing a high-level Mauritian business delegation headed by Mauritius Chamber of Commerce President Marday Venkatsay here on Tuesday.
The LCCI chief said the present business scenario between Pakistan and Mauritius is not very encouraging and setting up of joint working group is a step in right direction and would go a long way in boosting economic relations.
Speaking on the occasion, Marday Venkatsay said that Mauritius was a gateway to southern and eastern Africa, and would open up new markets for Pakistani goods.
He invited the Pakistani businessmen to visit Mauritius and avail the opportunities being offered by the government, saying that Mauritius is housed in strategic location and can serve as the hub of trade and commerce.
Speaking on the occasion, LCCI Senior Vice-President Sohail Lashari said the exchange of delegation is one of the time-tested initiatives, and would mark the beginning of a new era of co-operation.
LCCI Vice-President Sheikh Mohammad Arshad said that trade delegations' visits are key to boost economic relations, adding there is a need for aggressive measures on the part of the private sector to enhance trade relations between the two countries.
At the end of the function, businessmen from both the sides held one-to-one meetings to evaluate the trade opportunities between the two countries.
