'No progress without promotion of education'

Punjab Minister for Bait-ul-Mal Chaudhry Ejaz Shafi has said that the progress is not possible without the promotion of education and the present government is focusing the education sector by providing all possible assistance to this field in order to meet the future challenges.
He expressed these views at the 121st foundation day of Anjuman Hamayat-e-Islam here on Tuesday.
Shafi maintained that government was reorganising the Education Foundation and all out assistance and grant would be provided to the private sector for the promotion of education at reasonable fee structure to the masses.
He said the government had already announced to provide free of cost education up to matric level, ensure provision of free of cost course books up to primary level, impart teacher training and grant punctual girls students stipend of Rs 200 on monthly basis in order to reduce the drop-out ratio.
He said that government had announced the provision of suitable furniture in all schools of the province for elimination of Tat culture within three years besides free textbooks for students up to primary level.
He said that educational sector could not progress until and unless teaching is made the most respectable profession.
The minister said that provincial government is providing Rs 150-200 million to each district this year for the promotion of education. He announced Rs 300,000 donation for schools of Darul Shafqat.
