As part of government policy to consult the stakeholders of cotton sector to stem downward slide in cotton prices, Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) Chairman Masud Alam Rizvi will meet the Pakistan Ginners Association (PCGA) in Multan on Thursday.
The TCP chairman would discussed ways and means which can ensure good return to the growers and ginners of their products so that they do not remain at the losing end.
He will visit Nawabshah and several other cities in Punjab and Sindh in the next two weeks to get input from the growers and ginners to work out strategy for the Corporation to procure lint from ginners.
TCP as on October 12 had signed contracts with ginners for 170,000 bales.
This formula has worked well and cotton rates, which had dropped to Rs 850 for 40 kg phutti, and to Rs 830 in some areas, have again taken up rising stance.
