Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA), Punjab Branch, has announced that five million wheat flour bags of 20-kgs weight will be provided to people at subsidised rate of Rs 190 per bag in the holy month of Ramazan.
Muhammad Khaliq Arshad, Chairman PFMA, Punjab Zone, told newsmen here on Wednesday that these low priced wheat flour bags will be distributed under "Ramazan Package" at union council level.
He said that Punjab government would provide an amount of Rs 17.5 million to flour mills to enable them to provide wheat flour bags to people at subsidised rates. At present, ex-mill rate of wheat flour bag is around Rs 228 per 20 kgs bag but flourmills have decided to reduce its rate.
He claimed that PFMA, Punjab Zone, has issued directions to all its member flourmills to ensure availability of wheat flour in the market on reasonable rates.
He demanded of the government to increase wheat quota of flourmills and also make payments of outstanding dues of last year's Ramazan package to flour mills of Bahawalpur, Dear Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, and Layyah.
To a question, he said that quality of subsidised wheat flour bags would not be inferior to other bags to be available in the market.
