PML to form government in Northern Areas: Nisar

Additional Secretary Pakistan Muslim League (PML) and Chief Organiser Northern Areas elections Senator Nisar A Memon on Thursday said that PML is leading in the Northern Areas Legislative Council (NALC) election and would form the government in consultation with other elected representatives of the area.
Talking to APP, he said that free, fair and transparent elections in Northern Areas was organised by the government as a result PML got seven seats PPP won six seats, PML-N won two seats while independent candidates secured nine seats.
He added that every effort was made for maintenance of law and order and smooth conduct of elections for NALC and Local Bodies in the area.
Additional Secretary PML said that unlike the past the government did not interfere in the election process.
"We also did not create any hurdles in the rallies of the other political parties", he remarked.
Nisar A Memon also appreciated the efforts and contribution of Northern Areas Administration and Election Commission for holding free, fair and transparent elections in the area.
He said that President Musharraf was due to visit Northern Areas on October 9 to announce a comprehensive package for the social, political and economic empowerment of the people of the area but due inclement weather he could not visit the area.
He added that the President had again decided to visit the area on October 11 but for the same reason, the President could not visit the area.
Memon said on October 11, he had announced the package on behalf of the President General Pervez Musharraf for social political and economic empowerment of the people of the area.
"The winning of seven seats were below our expectations," he added.
