A new educational structure for the schools in Sindh would be announced by the end of Ramazan. This was stated by Sindh Education Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro, while talking to APP here on Thursday after speaking as the chief guest at a Seminar on 'Education for Sustainable Development.'
The moot was organised at a local hotel under the auspices of the Education and Literacy Management (ELM) executive committee.
The minister said during her recent working visit to the United Kingdom, she looked at the education system in that country.
"I feel that our education system badly needs reform to meet the requirements of the present day era", the minister added.
She pointed out that in Britain under the Labour government, the entire education policy has recently been re-formulated and targets in this respect have also been set.
Dr Khuhro said there was a culture in Britain that the schools should do what they want, and a new education regime has been introduced.
She was of the view that her visit to Britain was aimed at reviewing the British education system.
The provincial minister said: "Now she would work on a system that also suits our environment, as I am working on it and Insha-Allah by the Ramazan-end, we will have a new education structure for the schools in Sindh."
Replying a question, Dr Khuhro pointed out the demands of the college teachers in the province have been looked into, and they are being implemented in accordance with the agreement, adding in such a situation, there is no point on the part of the Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) to indulge in any sort of protest activity or continue it.
She said every day new promotion cases are coming, and are also being processed, adding: "So it is not a problem at all."
Dr Khuhro made it very clear that "our foremost duty as well as the target is the education of our youngsters, and for this very reasons, the lecturers are there and the education department was functioning smoothly.
She said: "If ignoring this, the teachers indulge in any protest, then I will never show any sympathy to such an instance.
