Bahawalpur Police have registered a case against 175 activists of Pakistan Muslim League-(N) including 16 office bearers ie Seth Aqueel-ur-Rehman Ex-MNA, Iqbal Channa MPA, Begum Perveen Masud Bhatti MPA, Chaudhry Sami-ullah Ex-MPA, Mumtaz Jajja Ex-MPA, and Saud Majid for delivering harsh and objectionable speeches against General Pervez Musharraf and his government on October 12 while observing the black day against toppling the government of Mian Nawaz Sharif.
Police have arrested Qayyum Azam, a leader of youth wing while Aqueel-ur-Rehman, Ex-MNA was released after eight hours detention.
"We have instituted a case against 175 Muslim Leaguers under section 16-MPO in Bahawalpur for delivering objectionable and provocative speeches while observing the black day, however only one activist Qayyum Azam was arrested," DPO Bahawalpur Arif Nawaz told this correspondent on phone on Thursday.
A spokesman of PML-N told that the police have raided their home at night to arrest maximum number of leaguers.
Police had violated the sanctity of "Chadar aur Chardeevari" by jumping into their homes without any search warrants and without informing them. He said that this action was taken to terrify the PML-N activists.
