Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has asked elected representatives to play active role in implementing the government's agenda of reforms.
He was talking to parliamentarians, who called on him at the Prime Minister House separately here on Sunday.
The Prime Minister said the government continues to accord priority to social sector development as it considers expansion and improvement in health and education facilities in addition to infrastructure development as being most fundamental for providing relief to the people.
He said a heavy responsibility lies on the shoulders of parliamentarians with regard to maintaining price stability, particularly of daily-use items, timely completion of development schemes and proper utilisation of funds meant for uplift and betterment.
They must contribute towards providing good governance to the people, which tops the government's agenda, he added.
In addition to matters relating to the development schemes and projects being carried out in their respective constituencies, MNAs discussed possibilities of enhancing manpower export from the country, setting up of industrial estates, investment promotion, problems of minorities and issues pertaining to health and media development.
They made a number of suggestions for bringing about improvement in various fields including strategy to create more job opportunities, improving health care and enhancing level of literacy and skills.
Those who called on him included Parliamentary Secretary for Health Begum Rahila Munawar, Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Parliamentary Secretary for Information Billa Ejaz, Dewan Jaffar Hussain Bukhari, Professor Mushtaq Victor, Dr Firdous Aashiq Awan and Akhtar Khan Khango.
