Foreign Minister, Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri held a meeting with the Chinese State Councillor Tang Jiaxuan at the Foreign Office on Monday and exchanged views on regional and international situation as well as UN Security Council reforms.
During the meeting it was observed that Pakistan and China shared similar views on regional and international issues.
The foreign minister condoled the death of the Chinese engineer in the hostage taking episode.
He said the entire Pakistan nation was sad over this tragic incident.
Chinese State Councillor thanked Pakistan for the help provided during this episode and expressed the hope that appropriate security measures would be made for the Chinese nationals working in Pakistan.
The two sides reiterated the resolve to work jointly to eradicate terrorism.
Tang Jiaxuan noted that China attached great importance to its friendly relations with Pakistan.
The two sides decided to set up a joint study group for concluding Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to promote bilateral trade.
Tang Jiaxuan thanked Pakistan for its support on Taiwan, Tibet and human rights.
The Chinese State Councillor, leading a 20-member delegation, arrived in Islamabad on Sunday on a two-day official visit.
