Prime Minister directs to improve export of citrus fruit

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Wednesday emphasised the need to improve the export of citrus fruit and announced to set up export terminal in Sargodha for this purpose.
He was talking to members of National Assembly belonging to Sargodha division here at Prime Minister House. Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Sher Afghan and Minister of State for Tourism Mrs. Sumera Malik were also present in the meeting.
The Prime Minister said improvement of export of citrus fruit is need of the hour as there is great demand for Pakistan's citrus fruit in the world.
He said there is vast scope for enhancing export of citrus fruit. He assured the elected representatives that the government would provide full help and assistance to the farmers to improve export of fruit through exploring new markets.
The Prime Minister said the government has started special programme to improve the road-network in the country. He said construction of new roads will open new avenues of development in the rural areas. Referring to the problem of shortage of irrigation water, the Prime Minister said government has also started lining of water courses to save the water and ensure sufficient supply of irrigation water to the farmers.
