Small Japanese firms report first labour shortage

Small companies in Japan have reported labour shortages for the first time in four years and are hiring more full-time staff, a government survey showed Thursday.
The findings in the National Life Finance Corp survey could point to a long-awaited pick-up in labour conditions and so in consumer spending, the key to growth in any developed economy.
The labour shortage was especially acute in the information and telecommunications and transport sectors.
