Singapore bunker prices rose on Friday, tracking record high fuel oil cargo values, but finally slipped into discount against cargo values after hovering at parity since the beginning of the week.
Suppliers pegged 380-cst bunker fuel oil levels at $205-$207 a tonne, up $1 from the previous day while 180-cst prices were at $215-$217.
At these offer levels the bunker market is in discount of $1 a tonne.
"Even with offer prices in discount, shipowners are staying away and buying only the minimum quantity that they need. The prices are still too high for them and they are opting to take bunkers in cheaper ports like Fujairah and Rotterdam," said a Singapore-based supplier.
