Malaysian tin fell 0.4 percent on Friday as investors sold after being unnerved by a drop in the London price.
Spot tin on the Kuala Lumpur Tin Market (KLTM) ended down $40 at $8,900 a tonne after a transaction of 75 tonnes. Tin on the London Metal Exchange fell $150 on Thursday to close at $8,800 a tonne.
Dealers on the local market noted initial bids for 30 tonnes on Friday from Japanese, European and local buyers, against offers totalling 75 tonnes.
The smaller drop in the Kuala Lumpur Tin Market price versus the London Metal Exchange widened the premium for shipping a tonne of Malaysian tin to Europe, after freight, insurance and other financial costs, to $335 from $225 on Thursday.
