25 Oct, 2004

The 16-inch diameter Sui gas pipeline was ruptured near Palijano Town on Sunday afternoon. The rupture occurred at the Sui-Karachi Indus Left Bank Gas Pipeline near Palijano following the drop of gas pressure near Tando Adam between 1300 to 1330 hours, Sui Southern Gas Co (SSGC) Senior General Manager Hassan Nawaz told APP.
He said the SSGCL team has immediately rushed to the affected spot and started repair work by isolating the damaged portion of the pipeline, adding the repair is being carried out at 40 feet-long section, and will take time of about 14 hours.
Hassan Nawaz said the rupture of the pipeline caused no major effect in respect of gas supply to the consumers right from affected area to Karachi as due to integrated SSGCL network system, alternative arrangements have been made to continue gas supply except the Matiari, Odero Lal and Palijano towns.
