Over 250 terrorists killed in tribal areas: ISPR

25 Oct, 2004

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Shaukat Sultan has said that over 250 terrorists have been killed in the ongoing operation in tribal areas.
To a question, he said the great difficulty is that these terrorists or miscreants mingle with children and women of the local population, and Security Forces cannot freely use their fire power.
Thus, it becomes difficult to ascertain as to who is terrorist and who is innocent civilian, he told BBC.
The Security Forces cannot conduct any operation freely, he said, adding the security forces try their utmost to avoid collateral damage. To another question, Major General Shaukat Sultan said there is a possibility that some wanted people may succeed in escaping during the search operation, adding if they escape now they will be arrested at some other place as operation against terrorists will continue till eradication of menace of terrorism from Pakistani soil.
