Muhammad Siddique Memon, DCO, on Sunday said that government has approved the mega project of Rs 553.350 million for providing purified water and better drainage system to the city.
He said that Rs 12 million by the federal government, Rs 5 million by the provincial government and Rs 5 million by the district government had already been released.
According to a handout, under annual development programme, Rs 10 million had been allocated for water supply scheme.
DCO added that Rs 4 million had been allocated under annual development programme for drainage scheme of the city while district government had released half of its share of Rs 2 million, while Rs 2 million would soon be released on behalf of provincial government.
DCO further said that Mega project to be completed by 2020. The project include water reservoirs for storing more water and construction of filter plant at Jamrao East and Jamrao West canals, while 96,00,000 gallons water would be supplied daily to the city.
He added 317000 citizens could get filtered water in this way. He said that tender process of the project had been completed. The work on this project would soon be started. He added that Government had separately appointed a project director for supervision of this project.
