Rs 3.8 billion drawback claims paid in July-September

The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has paid Rs 3.8 billion as duty drawback to exporters during the period from July 1 to October 1, 2004, against Rs 3.6 billion paid during the corresponding period of last fiscal year, showing an increase of Rs 0.2 billion. According to latest data issued on Monday, there were 31,855 pending duty drawback claims as on October 1, 2004, against 36,691 claims during the same period last year reflecting increase of 4,836 pending claims during current financial year.
The amount involved in pending duty drawback claims was Rs 1.7 billion during current fiscal year against same amount of Rs 1.7 billion of last year.
Data showed that the Collectorate of Customs, Karachi (Exports) paid Rs 2442 million as duty drawback to exporters during July 1-October 1, 2004 against Rs 2373 million paid during the corresponding period last fiscal year.
Collectorate of Customs, Lahore paid Rs 195.480 million against Rs 50.180 million; Sialkot Rs 402.450 million against Rs 428.379 million; Hyderabad Rs 52.973 million against Rs 45.303 million; Quetta Rs 45.125 million against Rs 3.820 million; Multan Rs 25.856 million against Rs 29.569 million; Faisalabad Rs 472.366 million against Rs 520.212 million; Rawalpindi Rs 32.770 million against Rs 36.280 million and Collectorate of Customs Peshawar paid Rs 216.340 million during July 1-October 1, 2004 against Rs 199.890 million paid during the corresponding period last fiscal year.
The collectorate-wise pending duty drawback claims were Collectorate of Customs, Karachi (Exports) 19716 claims; Collectorate of Customs Lahore, 991; Sialkot 2328; Hyderabad 16; Quetta 1373; Multan 628; Faisalabad 1802; Rawalpindi 1476 and Collectorate of Customs, Peshawar has to process 3525 pending duty drawback claims filed by exporters.
