The Gandhara Hindko Board has arranged a grand open air Hindko Na'atia Mushaira on November 6 here at Yakatoot Chowk at 9 pm. The event is being held under the patronage of an eminent religious figure of Peshawar, Syed Mohammad Noorul Hasnain Gillani, popularly known as Sultan Agha.
As many as 50 Hindko poets from different districts of NWFP are expected to participate in the function to pay poetic tributes to the Prophet (PBUH).
Two young Hindko poets, prose writers, and researchers, Malik Arshad Hussain and Ahmad Nadeem Awan, will conduct the proceedings of the programme.
It may be mentioned here that Hindko poetic sittings used to be a distinctive feature of the cultural life of Peshawar in early 1940s.
The Gandhara Hindko Board, a literary-cum-cultural body, working for the preservation and promotion of the Hindko language and Hindkowan culture for the last 11 years, has revived an old tradition by holding a Na'atia Mushaira in the heart Peshawar.
