The Federal Government has appointed Mansur-ur-Rehman Khan as Deputy Governor, State Bank of Pakistan. Before his elevation, Mansur was Executive Director (Banking) in SBP. Mansur-ur-Rehman Khan's distinguished and illustrious central banking career spreads over a period of more than three decades. Joining the Bank's service on July 2, 1968, he became Officer Grade II under training on April 25, 1970, and was posted to Training Department, Central Directorate.
He was transferred and posted to Banking Supervision Department, Lahore, as Inspecting Officer on May 11, 1980. Mansur was promoted and posted as Faculty Member, Training Department, SBP, Lahore, on June 6, 1982 before being transferred to Personnel Department, Central Directorate, as Deputy Director (Acting) on April 30, 1988. In the same department, he was posted as Deputy Director (Officiating) on January 1, 1989.
Mansur was assigned the charge of Joint Director (Acting), Personnel Department, CD, on June 7, 1990, before being promoted and posted in the same department as Joint Director (Officiating) on July 1, 1992. In the same capacity, he was transferred and posted to Banking Supervision Department, CD, on December 5, 1993. He was given the charge of Additional Director (Acting), Banking Supervision Department, Central Directorate, on February 18, 1994. Mansur was promoted as Director of Banking Supervision Department, CD, on July 17, 1994.
He was transferred and posted to World Bank Consultancy Project, SBP, CD, as its Director on April 7, 1997. In the same capacity, he was transferred and posted to Banking Policy & Regulations Department, Central Directorate, on May 24, 1997. He was promoted as Executive Director on August 5, 1999--the post he held till his appointment as Deputy Governor.
Mansur-ur-Rehman Khan has attended a number of courses which include management of the Training functions and Training Techniques', Management Information System' and '60th Advanced Course in Administration and Development'.
He is Secretary of Banking Laws Review Commission. He is a Member of the Technical Committee of Islamic Financial Services Board. He is also serving as Deputy Chairman of Risk Management Working Group of Islamic Financial Services Board.
