Directive to improve social welfare institutions

NWFP Senior Minister Sirajul Haq has directed for streamlining the functioning of all institutions and projects under social welfare department, as well as bringing it in harmony with requirements and aspirations of the people.
The Minister also asked for evolving a foolproof system for distribution of Zakat, and underlined the need for approaching the Federal government for significant increase in allocation for welfare projects under Bait-ul-Mal and Zakat system.
Sirajul Haq was presiding over a meeting also attended by Provincial Minister for Social Welfare, Hafiz Hashmat Khan, Secretary Planning and other officials of the concerned departments.
The Minister for Social Welfare said that preparations for establishment of third Darul Kafala exclusively for teenage beggars has been started after the two already established in Peshawar for male and female beggars.
He said that NWFP chief minister has agreed with the project in principle while a comprehensive programme would be launched for streamlining the training and welfare activities of all these three Darul Kafalajat in the next stage.
Similarly, Hafiz Hashmat said he recently held a detailed meeting with Religious Affairs Minister Ejazul Haq for increase in resources for welfare schemes, who agreed with stance of provincial government, and soon progress could be seen in this respect.
The Minister told the meeting that all deserving and poor individuals as well as students of Madaris would equally benefit after accelerated registration of madaris and increase in resources for the purpose.
Moreover, the Senior Minister asked for computerisation of all the activities of the social welfare department so that the number of poor and deserving could be decreased gradually. He expressed satisfaction of performance of Hafiz Hashmat Khan in this respect terming it exemplary for other ministers.
