Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Makinda Rajapakse has suggested that Pakistani exporters should import betel nuts, pineapple, tea, etc in barter of rice. According to Reap, Makinda said this while talking to vice chairman Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (Reap) Mohammad Anwar Mianoor at Colombo on Monday. Sri Lankan Commerce Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle was also present on the occasion.
Sri Lankan Prime Minister said that his country wanted to develop barter trade with Pakistan to boost two-way trade volume.
Earlier, vice chairman Reap offered Sri Lankan Prime Minister to supply 50,000 metric tons of rice on 120 days credit. Rajpakse appreciated Reap proposal.
Mianoor apprised the Prime Minister that his proposal for barter trade will put before Reap managing committee for consideration.
The Reap vice chairman is in Colombo to further explore market for Pakistani rice in Sri Lanka.
