The North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (NKATI) has urged Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to direct officials of EOBI to stop harassing, visiting and sending notices for payment of EOBI dues recovery from non-registered units with EOBI.
In a letter to the prime minister, Captain A Moiz Khan said that the association received a very large number of complaints regarding officials of EOBI sending the show-cause notices to all the factories of this industrial estate whether these are registered with EOBI or not.
The notices indicating self-calculated amounts of arrears even if they do not fall under the preview of EOBI in accordance with its own rules.
"At the same time the EOBI officials are harassing the industrialists by saying that they will take action under the revenue act," he said.
He urged the prime minister to direct the EOBI authority to lay down the procedure of its inspection and audit in collaboration with the industry of Karachi.
