President of Karachi Transport Ittehad (KTI) has demanded the administration for payment of compensation to the buses, mini-buses and coaches put on fire by miscreants in the city.
The KTI President Syed Irshad Hussain Shah Bukhari in a statement here on Tuesday also demanded action against the miscreants.
He said putting on fire the vehicle involved in fatal accident was understandable but it was also an act of terrorism if vehicles were torched after murder of worker of any political party.
Bukhari said it was difficult to understand why police and provincial administration failed to take action against them and preferred to be a silent spectator.
Giving details, Bukhari said on last Saturday Route 1-D bus was put on fire near Gujar Nullah in Liaquatabad, on Monday in Gulbahar area a 2-K bus and a passenger coach in Nagan Chowrangi became the victim of terrorism.
He said a couple of days back a route 4-B bus was hijacked near Nagan Chowrangi and extensively damaged.
Bukhari said all mentioned incidents need immediate attention of the provincial government and demanded payment of compensation to the transporters to remove restlessness.
The KTI President said if their demand was not met there would be no option for them but to resort to giving a strike call.
