After successfully arranging 'Fun and Food' programmes for handicapped, blind and under-privileged children in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, Jimmy Engineer, a renowned artist, social worker and peace activist has announced to hold similar functions in India, Bangladesh, Nepal and South Africa.
'My programmes have two way impacts, one to create awareness amongst the society by recognising the rights of handicapped, blind and poor children and second to improve image of Pakistan at international level,' Jimmy Engineer told newsmen here on Wednesday.
There would be 10 'Fun and Food' programmes in India, five each in Mumbai and Delhi. Over 1,000 children from India would be participating in these functions studded with music, magic show, puppet show and a dinner.
'I am still working on my programme and schedule would be announced later on. India is a big country making impossible for me to arrange such kind of programmes throughout that country,' he said.
It may be mentioned here that Jimmy who launched Fun and Food programme for special, blind and handicapped children in Karachi in 2001, till date had held over 60 to 70 such programmes in Pakistan. Recently he organised the same programme in three cities of Sri Lanka including Colombo, Kandy and Dambulla. Five programmes in Sri Lanka entertained around 600 handicapped and poor children, he claimed.
He said that the purpose of holding these programmes in Sri Lanka was to set an example for those who could help such children in becoming an effective and active part of the society.
