Punjab University (PU) Vice Chancellor Lieutenant General Arshad Mahmood (Retd), PU Registrar Colonel Masud-ul-Haq (Retd) and Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre (SZIC) Director Professor Dr Jamila Shaukat have expressed sorrow over the demise of UAE President Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Arshad said the late UAE president played a vital role in strengthening brotherly relations between the two countries, and contributed tremendously towards the development of social and educational sector of Pakistan.
Masud-ul-Haq also paid great tributes to the late Shaikh Zayed, and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
SZIC Director Professor Dr Jamila Shaukat said late Sheikh Zayed established the Islamic Centre at the Punjab University to promote research of Qur'anic teachings and Arabic studies.
She said the services of Sheikh Zayed for Muslim Ummah and for undertaking welfare projects across the globe will be long remembered. Qur'an Khawani was also offered at the Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre.
