PPCBL told to speed up Rabi loan process

The Registrar, Co-operatives Punjab and the general manager, Punjab Provincial Co-operative Bank Limited (PPCBL) have directed the staff of the bank to speed up the process of provision of loans to small farmers for sowing of Rabi crop 2004-05 so that they could timely complete wheat sowing.
Meanwhile, a PPCBL spokesman said on Wednesday that loan disbursement for the Rabi crop is in full swing, and the process will be completed within stipulated period.
He also said the PPCBL will provide Rs 8 billion loans to farmers of the province during the current financial year through registered co-operative societies, adding these loans will be provided in 100 percent cash with 9 percent mark-up.
Last year, the bank provided Rs 7,700 million loans to farmers across the province against the target of Rs 7,500 million fixed by the State Bank of Pakistan, he said.
