Minister of State for Oversees Pakistanis Tariq Azeem said on Thursday that the MMA-ARD connivance was not aimed strengthening the democracy but to harm the masses. "MMA is playing in the hands of those people with whom they have never enjoyed political and ideological unanimity," Tang Azeem said.
The MMA should seriously consider before going ahead with their proposed anti-government campaign, as such plans would not be in their own benefit, the Minister of State said in a press statement issued here.
Tariq Azeem said ARD has nothing at stake, whereas the MMA, if it did not act wisely, would not only lose their government in two provinces, but will also not be able to get such numerical strength in the Parliament due to changed public opinion.
He said, MMA had promised their voters to resolve their problems and ensure Islamic Shariah during the last elections, but now with the talk of dissolving assemblies, which promise were they going to fulfil, he asked.
"They (MMA) should know that Book (electoral sign of MMA in last elections) on which they secured votes also has a chapter of defeat, and they should read it carefully," he remarked.
The Minister of State further said that if MMA did not act wisely, it could damage their political future.
"Maulana Fazalur Rehman and Qazi Hussain Ahmad while playing in the hands of these people (PPPP) should keep in mind that Maulana Mufti Mehmood was thrown out of the Assembly and Mian Tufail Mohammad was mistreated in their tenure.
Tariq Azeem said, the people are unable to understand what service was being rendered through the MMA-ARD connivance adding, the people wanted to see the present assemblies to complete their tenure and improve their performance.
The ARD and MMA should focus on their parliamentary integrity for the benefit of country and nation as well as democracy, he maintained.
