Punjab Provincial Cooperative Bank Limited (PPCBL) has extended Rs 378.24 million loans to small farmers during the year for livestock and dairy development. PPCBL General Manager Raja Allah Baksh here stated this on Thursday.
According to him this loaning facility was being provided to farmers under Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi's poverty alleviation programme and to overcome scarcity of meat and milk in the province. He claimed that this loaning scheme been applauded at large by the farming community across the province.
Explaining salient features of the scheme he said that farmers having land up to three acres could get loans up to Rs 300,000. He said that the basic purpose of launching of this scheme is to provide loaning facility to genuine farmers with small land holding, so they could improve their financial conditions.
In pursuance of the directives of the chief minister, the procedure for getting loans under this scheme is very simple and farmer-friendly, he added.
