"He is rather an endearing Prime Minister, don't you think?"
"Who?"
"Who else but the Chosen One."
"Why? I thought he was kind of run of the mill - chosen by one man and trying his best to meet the expectations of the person who chose him."
"Well that's not unique in our history."
"I agree. Jamali and the Chaudhry were chosen, so to speak. Before these guys we had a chosen president and before that BB had her own chosen president who was empowered to act like a tame cat but who turned into an alley cat midway during her rule."
"Right. The moral of the story is that if a president holds dual charge ie of COAS and president, then his prime minister will be chosen and if the president holds one charge only then he is chosen by the prime minister."
"True but then what about the chosen Khan Sahib, the non-military president who was the bane of two prime ministers."
"He was supported by the military."
"True. So perhaps we need a constitutional amendment that stipulates that the chosen will not be tolerated."
"Too difficult. The one with the real power will ensure..."
"Yeah I guess...such is our history...but what did the Chosen One say that makes him endearing?"
"He stated that Pakistan is ready to extend all possible help in fighting terrorists to Nepal."
"And does he think we have the necessary experience to help other countries fight terrorists successfully?"
"Absolutely...in South Waziristan..."
"The insurgency is still ongoing there, my friend! It's not as if we have peace there with all the terrorists apprehended and in a place where they can do no harm."
"But what about the al Qaeda operatives that we have been caught and handed over to the Americans?"
"I don't know the exact number. All I do know is that we have caught several and handed them over but I am no longer sure of how many. However, Nepal's problems are markedly different to those posed by our terrorists if you know what I mean!"
"Yes. Ours are instigated by foreign terrorists and anti-Americanism fuelled by the President's pro-American foreign policy. Nepal's are targeted against the system of their government. Besides given the number of killings of innocents by terrorists in our country almost daily now, and I am not including the casualties suffered by our army, are we in a position to provide assistance to other countries?"
"I guess not. But what's the harm in offering?"
"True but to be fair to the PM maybe he meant our army could train theirs to better fight the insurgents."
"Indeed! But I hope he realises that if the Nepalese accept he would have to request a higher authority for sanction."
"Of course, he would. He is after all the endearing PM."
