HEC allocates special grant for agri research

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has allocated a special grant to encourage agricultural research at public sector universities. The HEC has asked agricultural scientists and researchers serving in public sector universities and degree awarding institutions to submit their research proposals under research grant programme.
They can submit their research proposals on the prescribed form posted at the HEC website, www.hec.gov.pk.
The HEC on Thursday also invited research proposals from the faculty members and researchers of public sector universities and degree awarding institutions of Pakistan.
The proposals for research grant have been invited to encourage research in specific fields of agriculture including Development of Salt Tolerant, Food Crops through Genetic Manipulations or Genetic Basic of Salt Tolerance in Agricultural Crops or such other related topics.
Every research study could win research grant of Rs 3 to 6 million to he completed in 2 to 3 years.
The grant award will be based on peer reviews and the research track-record of the principal investigator indicated in the proposals.
The agricultural scientists and researchers have been asked to submit their proposals to Dr S. Mahmood Raza, Adviser (R&D) HEC as early as possible.
